The Indy Sports Foundation Mission

The Indy Sports Foundation's mission is to promote national and international amateur sports and to lend assistance to persons and organizations engaged in such activities.

The Indy Sports Foundation, founded in 1984, not only shares our city's enthusiasm for sports, it also works to secure the future of sports in the Indianapolis area. The Indy Sports Foundation enhances the role of athletics in the lives of ordinary young people though it's financial support and the direct involvement of its members. We are proud of our accomplishments over the past couple of decades, including but not limited to the following:

  1. The Annual Old Oaken Bucket Luncheon honoring Indiana University and Purdue University
  2. The Salute to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Indy Racing League Luncheon
  3. The St. Patrick's Day Parade, featuring local and state dignitaries, Irish groups, and our Indianapolis Irish Citizen of the Year
  4. The Annual Shamrock Run/Walk on St. Patrick's Day with 2,000 - 3,000 participants
  5. The St. Patrick's Day Celebration following the parade and run/walk
  6. The IAC's old Annual Boxing Night, featuring promising amateur fights and the Foundation's annual action.

Most significant to the City of Indianapolis is the Indy Sports Foundation's contributions to diverse groups of young people, ranging from underprivileged children to champion athletes. In past years we have supported:

  1. The Indiana High School Girls' Volleyball Championship Banquet and other related activities
  2. Indianapolis Colts game tickets provided to underprivileged children
  3. Contributions in support of the Indianapolis Boys and Girls Clubs
  4. Indianapolis Special Olympics Youth programs
  5. Special Olympic camps
  6. Big Brother programs
  7. Other general support for underprivileged youth in Indianapolis

The Indy Sports Foundation is proud of its record of success. Although the financial achievements are second to the impact our activities have on individual lives, we recognize our financial success is the means to attaining our goals for this year and many more years to come.
